Theodora Benedek, MD, PhD, Habil, FESC

Theodora Benedek is professor of cardiology and internal medicine in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures, Romania. She is the Director of the Department of Internal Medicine in this university, head of the Clinic of Cardiology and President of the Committee for Scientific Research of the Senate University. Since 2008, she works at the European Commission as external expert and reviewer for FP7 and Horizon 2020 programs, serving since 2015 as Vice Chair of the Life Sciences panel in the Marie Curie fellowships program. She published more than 200 articles in extenso in peer-reviewed journals and 7 books and book chapters. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, a peer-reviewed journal indexed in 8 international databases, and her editorial activity includes also the position of Managing Editor in one Thomson Reuters indexed journal (The Journal of Critical Care Medicine) and in several peer-reviewed journals (Journal of Cardiovascular Emergencies, Acta Medica Marisiensis). Prof. Benedek is member in the steering committee and coordinator of all Eastern-European centers in the Discharge trial, financed by the European Commission within FP7 program, and has participated in 10 research grants financed by the Romanian Ministry of Research and the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences and in more than 30 clinical trials in the field of cardiology. At the same time, Prof. Benedek created and coordinates the Center of Advanced Research in Multimodal Cardiac Imaging in the Cardio Med Medical Center, Romania. The main fields of her research interests are related to cardiac imaging, CT assessment of coronary artery diseases, stem cell therapy in cardiovascular diseases, heart failure and acute cardiac care.

He graduated at the Medical University of Pecs, Hungary in 1983, and has been a medical doctor in various positions since then in the Department of Intensive Care and also in the 1st Department of Medicine, at the University of Pecs. At present he is a full Professor and Chair of 1st Department of Medicine, and a specialist in internal medicine, cardiology and anesthesia and intensive care. He worked as a research scholar at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA, between 1990-91 and as a visiting assistant professor at the Division of Cardiology, University of Toronto, Canada in 1993. The main areas of his scientific work are hemorheology and experimental cardiology. In these fields he received C.Sc. (Ph.D.) degree in 1992. In 2003 he became a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Sc.D.). Since 1996 he has been directing a Ph.D. program, 27 colleagues have received their Ph.D. degree in his program so far. He is a member of several national and international organizations, out of which it must be highlighted that he is the founder and since 1993 also the board member of the Hungarian Society of Hemorheology, having been its president between 2000-2006. Since 1993 he is the Member of the Advisory Board of the International Society for Clinical Hemorheology having been its president between 1995–1999. Since 1994 he is the Member of the Advisory Board of the European Society of Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation and also its Vice-President since 2013. He is the President of the Hungarian Society of Cardiology. Between 1998-2002 he received Szechenyi Professor Scholarship. In recognition of his outstanding scientific networking activities he was awarded the Organizational Science Award from PAB (Regional Committee in Pecs, Hungarian Academy of Sciences). In 2015 he received the Oguz K. Baskurt Hemorheology Award from the International Society for Clinical Hemorheology for his major contributions to clinical hemorheology. He is the member of the editorial boards of several national and international scientific journals. He is the leader of graduate and postgraduate training in both cardiology and internal medicine at the University of Pecs. He was the Vice-Dean for Scientific Affairs at the University of Pecs, Medical School, Hungary between 2004-2006 and between 2006-2008 Vice-President of the Medical Center, between 2009-2010 the Rector’s Representative, between 2010-2012 the Rector’s Chief Adviser. He is the Chief Medical Manager of Social Infrastructure Operative Programme (TIOP) and since 2014 also the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovational Affairs. He is the author of 216 peer reviewed papers with a cumulative impact factor of 228,912 and citations of 2388.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krisztina Mártha is a senior specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, specialist in General Dentistry. She recieved her PhD degree in 2008 at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tîrgu Mureş, the topic of the PhD thesis was “Clinical, immunohistochemical and microbiological evaluation of muco-gingival tissues after fixed orthodontic therapy”. She is author and coauthor of six monographs of orthodontics and pediatric dentistry diagnostic and treatment procedures. Her main interests are periodontal behaviour during fixed orthodontic therapy, genetic background of non-syndromic hypodontia, enamel behaviour and white spot lesions after debonding.

Conf. Dr. Adrian Iancu is an Associate Professor in Cardiology at “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, head of the 3-rd Departament at Clinic of Cardiology.

Among clinical studies in the field of interventional cardiology, during the last four years, Dr. Iancu’s research was also focused in the area of acute myocardial infarction, carotid stenting, treatment of carotid in-stent restenosis and the antiagregant therapy in coronary stenting. Significant research issues have been spent by therapies focused toward the microvascular obstruction in acute myocardial infarction. Original contributions of Dr. Iancu was represented by the development of a new method of microvascular obstruction treatment in acute myocardial infarction. These researches were published in the Karger’s journal: Cardiology ,The Journal of American College of Cardiology and JAMA.

Fő szakmai érdeklődési területem a non-invazív cardiovascularis diagnosztika és az echocardiographia. A magyar és angol nyelvű graduális és posztgraduális oktatásban való részvétel egyik legkedvesebb tevékenységem 2000 óta.

2006-ban és 2012-ben az év orvosa címet, 2009-ben a Semmelweis Egyetem kiváló dolgozója kitüntetést nyertem el. Az ér- és szívbetegségek új non-invazív diagnosztikai lehetőségei terén végzett tudományos munkáim eredményei magyar és nemzetközi folyóiratokban is közlésre kerültek. 2009-ben a TÁMOP nemzetközi kutatási projekt keretében 1 hónapos amerikai tanulmány úton jártam.

2008 óta tagja vagyok a Magyar Kardiológusok Társasága Tanácsadói Testületének, 2011 óta pedig Echocardiographiás Munkacsoportjának.

Zoltan Csanadi graduated at the Medical University of Szeged in 1984. He did his residency in internal medicine and in cardiology in Szeged. He completed a fellowship program in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto between 1992 and 1995. From 1996 he started and established clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Szeged. In 2004 he moved to Debrecen and developed clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the Department of Cardiology. The Debrecen Center has been accredited as a training center in clinical electrophysiology for the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and also as a European training center of Medtronic for atrial fibrillation ablation. Dr. Csanádi is running a PhD program including different topics on ablation techniques and device implantations. Three young candidates defended their thesis already and 4 have been currently working on their thesis. He served as member of the National Societies Committee of EHRA and was responsible for the Eastern-European fellowship program between 2011-2013. He has been member of the Board of the Hungarian Society of Cardiology since 2007, currently chairing the Scientific Committee. He has been member of the board of the Working Group on Cardiac Pacing and Arrhythmias since 2008 and served as President of the WG between 2007 and 2010. He is the author of more then 100 scientific publications, the cumulative impact factor of his first/last author “in extenso” papers is 80.

Totodată el a înființat grupul de lucru Tromboza în Bolile Cardiovasculare în cadrul Societății Maghiare de Cardiologie, ulterior devenind președintele Societății Maghiare de Tromboză și Hemostază.

Pál Maurovich-Horvát, MD, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor, is the director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Group at the Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
Dr. Maurovich-Horvát graduated from the Semmelweis University in 2006, completed his residency at Heart and Vascular Center of the Semmelweis University, which was followed by a three-year long cardiovascular imaging research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Maurovich-Horvát studied clinical effectiveness at the Harvard University, School of Public Health, where he graduated in 2012.
When he has returned to Hungary, he was appointed to create a new cardiac imaging clinical program at the Semmelweis University. As the director of both clinical and research programs, Dr. Maurovich-Horvát is mentoring three residents, eight medical students and six PhD students. He is the founder and the director of the Semmelweis CT Academy, which is a popular international hands-on training program for cardiologists and radiologists.
His research interest focuses on the development of new diagnostic strategies to identify high-risk coronary plaques. Recently, he and his team have successfully completed a unique research project on Hungarian twins to better understand genetic and environmental influences in development of coronary atherosclerotic plaques. Dr. Maurovich-Horvát is the recipient of one of the most prestigious scientific grant in Hungary, the “Momentum” grant of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is the author of several international peer reviewed publications in the field of cardiac CT, his cumulative impact factor is 215, citations are over 1800.

  1. május 23.-án születtem Szabadkán. Jelenlegi munkahelyem a Szegedi Tudományegyetem Családorvosi Intézete.

Az általános orvosi diplomát a Szegedi Orvostudományi Egyetemen (Cum laude) szereztem meg 1983-ban, majd 1992-ben belgyógyászati, 1996-ban Kardiológia Szakvizsgát szereztem jeles eredménnyel. 1992 és 1999 között tanársegédként dolgoztam a SZOTE II. sz. Belgyógyászati Klinikán. 2002-től az echocardiographiás laboratórium és munkacsoport vezetőjeként dolgoztam. 1999 és 2003 között egyetemi adjunktus voltam a SZOTE. II. sz. Belgyógyászati Klinikán és Kardiológia Centrumban, 2003-tól pedig egyetemi docensként dolgozom. PhD disszertációmat 2002-ben védtem meg (Assessment of myocardial echocardiography by pharmacological stress echocardiography). 2010-ben habilitáltam klinikai orvostudományokból . 2011-ben egyetemi tanári kinevezésben részesültem valamint a Kardiológia osztály vezetője lettem. 2015-től Tanszékvezető egyetemi tanár vagyok, SZTE, Családorvosi Intézetben.

Tudományos közleményeim száma 87 darab, melyek impakt faktora 133.4. Összes hivatkozás 1383, független idézet 1046. A Hirsch index 25, könyvfejezet 10 (3 idegen nyelven). Szerkesztőbizottságok közül megemlíteném, hogy az European Heart Journal (IF: 14,723)– szerkesztőbizottsági tagja vagyok, jelenleg egyetlen magyarként, a Cardiovascular Ultrasound (IF: 1,28) – szerkesztőbizottsági tagja, World Journal of Cardiology – szerkesztőbizottsági tag valamint a Cardiologia Hungarica – főszerkesztő 2016-tól.

Theodora Benedek, MD, PhD, Habil, FESC

Theodora Benedek is professor of cardiology and internal medicine in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures, Romania. She is the Director of the Department of Internal Medicine in this university, head of the Clinic of Cardiology and President of the Committee for Scientific Research of the Senate University. Since 2008, she works at the European Commission as external expert and reviewer for FP7 and Horizon 2020 programs, serving since 2015 as Vice Chair of the Life Sciences panel in the Marie Curie fellowships program. She published more than 200 articles in extenso in peer-reviewed journals and 7 books and book chapters. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, a peer-reviewed journal indexed in 8 international databases, and her editorial activity includes also the position of Managing Editor in one Thomson Reuters indexed journal (The Journal of Critical Care Medicine) and in several peer-reviewed journals (Journal of Cardiovascular Emergencies, Acta Medica Marisiensis). Prof. Benedek is member in the steering committee and coordinator of all Eastern-European centers in the Discharge trial, financed by the European Commission within FP7 program, and has participated in 10 research grants financed by the Romanian Ministry of Research and the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences and in more than 30 clinical trials in the field of cardiology. At the same time, Prof. Benedek created and coordinates the Center of Advanced Research in Multimodal Cardiac Imaging in the Cardio Med Medical Center, Romania. The main fields of her research interests are related to cardiac imaging, CT assessment of coronary artery diseases, stem cell therapy in cardiovascular diseases, heart failure and acute cardiac care.

Din 2013 este director al Consiliului Școlii Doctorale la UMF Târgu Mureș și coordonator al masterului de Cercetare Medico-Farmaceutică Avansată la UMF Târgu Mureș.
De-a lungul anilor a fost membru în mai multe proiecte internaționale ce au vizat sănătatea materno –fetală în Africa de Vest, Asia Centrală și Europa de Est.
